Seeds Of Chaos

You may have had your fair share of encounters with all sorts of twisted fantasy games. Maybe you have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. I bet you are yet to see anything like Seeds of Chaos…, this one will prove to be a new one for y’all. 

This dark fantasy game is inspired by fantasy series like The Witcher, worldbuilding of Berserk, Dark Souls, and many more. Seems like Venus Noire is up to something sinister with this one. 

And in this review, we will be diving into The Sixth Realms, to a continent far out west in the land of Solanse. Out there, somewhere, it has been seven years since the end of the last Demon War, and after Lord Karmas yielded to the superiority of Light, it’s a new era where peace and prosperity reign all over the land. 

But evil hasn’t given up on its quest for trouble, so in the shadows lurks an unseen threat to peace and tranquility – but a storm is brewing on the horizon. Seems we won’t have to wait for long before shit hits the pan, and this game will take you into the thick of it. 

That sounds kinda intriguing and dreadful at the same time, doesn’t it? Well, if this sounds like a mission you would like to embark on, then gear up, we’re going for a fucking serious spin.

As much as I love this game, and the creepy twist it comes with, it’s a tad too spontaneous, to say the least. Unlike your typical indie game, Seeds of Chaos truly lives up to its name. 

If you feel unsatisfied about how you did an event, you might have a hard time finding it (if you do at all) again if you reload it. I think the developers of this game could have done a better job than having a whole shit of mechanics that I don’t even understand why they’re there, and not ironing out the random events. 

Then again, I think the spontaneous nature of this game is part of what makes it thrilling for some, so I think you should try this game and decide what makes sense and what doesn’t.

I had a tough time figuring out which events were random, and which were not. And having to wrap my head around all the hidden variables in play that are moving things in the background wasn’t helping either. 

It’s also quite confusing that you have the liberty to alter the relationship you have with the different characters, but it’s confusing that if you refuse to engage in a sex scene with the characters (either because it doesn’t feel hot enough or anything else) then you lose the entire storyline. 

Confusing as this game is, however, we still have to give it up to the developers for the effort they are putting toward helping players get started on the right foot. 

These guys have a thread on F95Zone.to, where you can download the game. It’s also on this thread where the developers keep sharing every new update as they come out. 

To make things even easier for us nerds, Venus, and his team have even added links on the forum's front page. This allows for fast, easy, and direct access to say the “How to use” page far down in the forum threads.

Here, it’s explained step by step how to add the file to the game and run it. Also included in the links (besides the game over guide) are other handy resources like “Early Game Guide”, “Gallery Unlock”, and “Extended Scene Replay Mode” among others.

Again, the forum is very alive and active, which is to say if you run into any bugs, issues, or problems when trying to figure out how to set up or play this game, all you need to do is search the forum for any available fixes. If the results you get do not resolve your issue, you can always a thread with your questions or concerns, and you will more than likely get help from either the developers themselves or fellow gamers. 

Game Design

Since you know what this game is all about, and where to get further information if you need it, let us take a closer look at what it’s all about. 

Let’s start with getting the game on your device. First, I think these guys have done a freaking awesome job at making sure this game can run on different operating systems. You can download it on Linux, Windows, Mac, and even Android.  

Unlike other games that users can only install on Windows OS, this versatility makes for a wide range of users. This is in itself a major leap in the right direction. 

Of course, since this is based on Patreon’s business model, you can bet it comes in small events and keeps on being updated over time. But hey, that means it’s still free for those of us who just want to check it out. Only if you like it enough can you opt to support the developers.

Overall, the characters in this visual novel are amazing, except for Alexia, who is fucking annoying with her constant phrases that don’t seem to change. Considering we’re given narration selections and other options like changing how she feels, it sucks that we can only enjoy that within that scene, and then, nothing.  

The setting is also remarkable, although as mentioned earlier, the gameplay and the scenes are very random, meaning some of the scenes in the map may not be visible again after reloading. It also fucking sucks that we have the “Talk” button for some characters, yet they don’t always talk, sometimes (most of the time actually) they’ll just stand there, only to talk once you get an event button and you click it. 

Overall, however, the game is easy to flow with, especially with the setting allowing you to ease into playing Rowan, although you can also swap from this role to take that of his wife, Alexia depending on the narration section you’re in. 

If you are a fan of visual novels, then you might have an easy time getting the hang of things here, and even more fun having a good time through it all.

Only the severe randomness of the events is what is taking away the flow of everything, not to mention the subpar mechanics that just aren’t necessary. Seems like the devs were just having fun coding them, only to end up messing around with what is otherwise an awesome piece.

Mobile/Desktop Experience

For those who love to enjoy our little kinky me time on our mobile devices, here’s another reason to smile at the developers of this game and give them a thumbs up. This visual novel is built to run on both desktop and Android devices, which makes for an excellent experience on these two options.

It’s also even more impressive that desktop users who use Mac or Linux operating systems won’t have any issues installing this game on their machines. Remember, you cannot play this game online; you should download and install it on your device to play it. 

What I like about Spnati

For one, the setting is commendable, and that caught my attention right from the start. 

The game is free, which makes it risk-free for those who just want to kick the tires and see whether or not this is something for them.

There’s a lot of information to help even total rookies get started, and if you get stuck at any point, you can always SOS out to the wide community, and they’ll come to your rescue.

What I hate about Spnati

On the downside, however, this game seems to have tons of variables that only mean more issues in the long run. Say when you’re balls deep in a hardcore NTR event, but when you jump to scenes outside of that particular storyline, then there’s nothing erotic going on.

I also feel like there isn’t as much screwing going on as I had hoped to see. If they can bring on more fucking and hot scenes then that would be awesome. 

Conclusion

To wind up, I won’t say this game is a pile of trash, nor is it one of those fucking fantastic games I have seen over the years. The spontaneous events are watering all the fun for me, and the lack of enough shit to beat a wank to doesn’t make up for my dissatisfaction. 

That said, if you’re a lover of visual novels, and you only want to be part (or in the middle) of the story, then you’ll love this one. The setting is great, the characters are impressive, and overall, it’s a good game.
